If I were to link quickbooks with my bank, then how would I know the exact balance since quick books has to wait until the date comes in from the bank. In the past I used quicken and entered each transaction as I went so I knew exactly what the balance was in my checking account.

If you see ADD line in bank feed, that means you've missed adding in the check register in QuickBooks. Once you add here, on the banking tab once the transactions are downloaded, you will match (green button) it. If keeping daily bank balance is very important, you can manually add transactions here as they come.
